How did Britain's victory in the French and Indian War mark the end of the French empire in North America?



Most of the fighting in North America ended in 1759.

The Treaty of Paris was signed in 1763.

France loses power and land in North America.

Britain takes over Canada and land east of the Mississippi River (except New Orleans).

Spain gets Louisiana from France.

Britain gets control of Florida. Spain gets control of Cuba and the Philippines.

The war costs so much money that the English government wanted the colonies to pay more taxes. The colonists will not like this!!!
