Continue to work on your research. When you have completed your note taking, write a summary of your findings. You should write in a way that proves your knowledge of your topic and your knowledge of proper writing style (grammar, spelling, paragraphs, explanation, etc.). Make an effort to cite your sources. Prove you know what you know.
Go to your google drive and click "Shared with me". Find the folder with your name and move it to your drive.
Place the research assignment in this folder for your teachers to see.

Write a response to the following (place in the folder I have shared with you on Google): You are having a dinner party. What 4 guests would you invite? Why would you invite them? Guests can be living or dead, famous or not.

2. Continue to work on your research. The goal is to have your research completed by Monday
so that you are able to begin your rough draft next week.
3. Create a google document for your rough draft. Place it in the shared folder.
Even if you are not prepared to write anything yet, place a page with a heading in the file to acknowledge the assignment.

Basic Social Studies Stuff Everyone Should Know
Answer the questions on the handout. Place your answers in the shared folder.
If you haven't already, complete the first assignment.

Read any book for pleasure. There is no writing assignment attached to this.
Just read! My children are assigned 15 minutes of reading so we're going to do 16 minutes!

This week was supposed to be the beginning of the baseball season.
Each of these clues is a hint to the name of a Major League Baseball team.
Copy the document, place your answers on the handout once you put it in the shared folder.
Let's see who gets the most correct. I will post the person with the most correct answers here Friday morning.

How to Share Documents With Mr. Dowling


1. Log in to Google using your school username and password.
2. Click on the waffle at the top right of your screen.
3. Go to your Drive.
4. Click on "Shared with Me". In the Shared with Me Section there is a folder that has your name on it. It is in this folder that you should put all Social Studies assignments.
I recommend that you click and drag the folder from "Shared with Me" to "My Drive" so it is easier to find.
5. When creating a document for Social Studies, open the folder first. Then create the new document.
Any document that is created in the folder would automatically be shared with me.
If you create it separately, click the document and drag it into the folder to share it.
6. Assignments that are not in the folder will not be graded.


1. Watch the video posted above. Remember if the video doesn't work, go to the DowlingNotes shared folder in your Google Drive and click on the Marbury v. Madison video.

2. Read Chapter 10 Lesson 1 up to "Pike's Expedition"
Write 5 facts about the Louisiana Purchase using complete sentences.
This assignment must be completed by Wednesday evening and posted in the shared folder.
See directions above for adding documents to a shared folder.
